Sacrifice 4
Philippians 3:11 – if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.
One thing that really sticks out here in this verse was the part that says, “By any means.” By any means, I shall attain Christ. It’s very challenging statement. Makes me think of how far I would go to achieve true salvation. You know? By Jesus dying on the cross, the prize he had to pay in order for me to live in the light was crazy. Since He did that for me, how far will I go to achieve the ‘by any means’ standard. If I am honest, I would love to say that I would give it all at any cost but that would be a lie. It’s hard for me to give a measly little French fry away, much less my life away.
As human nature, we believe that we are entitled to things. And it defiantly goes against everything in our nature to surrender our rights away. But that’s what God calls us to do. He calls us to follow the example of what He has been set before us. And that’s hard. But by any means, through Christ, I shall overcome and surrender. I want to be able to one day say that I would sacrifice everything for the Name of Jesus. I want Him to completely break me of myself and be humbled before His throne.

Consistency

Consistency Romans 12:1-2 - Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. I am convinced that these verses is one of my overseer’s favorite to quote. I have heard it so much the past 6 months, that it’s pretty much now one of my favorites now as well. This section is talking about being a living sacrifice to the Lord. We are supposed to walk in holiness and in purity while we are on this earth.   Now that can be really hard, like really hard. Wisdom 5 Ephesians 5:15-17 – See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. If we walk by godly wisdom, then it will help us determine what our purpose is. But there’s a few curve balls to this. Right here in this verse, it’s basically promising us that there are going to be hard days ahead. There is nothing we can do to prevent them but to stay faithful in your calling. The verse goes on and says, “Therefore.” Now this is a very important transition word. It letting us know that the next portion has something significant to say to us. And that is, DO NOT BE UNWISE.
