Consistency

Consistency

Romans 12:1-2 - Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

I am convinced that these verses is one of my overseer’s favorite to quote. I have heard it so much the past 6 months, that it’s pretty much now one of my favorites now as well. This section is talking about being a living sacrifice to the Lord. We are supposed to walk in holiness and in purity while we are on this earth.  Now that can be really hard, like really hard. Because that means we have to be consistently living a life that is set apart. This section doesn’t say “Do not conform to the pattern of this world”… SOMETIMES. No, it say, “Do not”. For example, why is it that we won’t wear short crop tops with our stomach out but at that beach we will wear a bikini with everything hanging out. That’s not consistency.  That’s being selective. God doesn’t like that, we need to be either hot or cold. Not in-between.

Since I will be coming back to the states in a week, I have been thing about this a lot and I want to be consistent in not only my every day devotionals, but in my modesty, what I watch, how I serve, and in everything else. I want to line up my will with the Lord’s will. I want to be a true representation of true and proper worship in everything I do.

Application:
Throw out any clothing that I would feel ashamed wearing in the throne room of Christ.
