Sacrifice 5
Philippians 3:12-13 – Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead.
Sometimes we forget how much we are really holding onto. Whether it is from our past or if it’s a sin that is/has entangled us, those things can make it hard to move forward. But we have to remember that Christ has already defeated the grave. And, it’s though that that we become the overcomer by the power that lives within us. It’s through that power from the Holy Spirit that are able to leave the past behind us and take a step forward in our new life though Him. And I know I keep putting the word ‘through’ in there a lot. It’s sounding super repetitive. BUT, it’s only THROUGH Christ that we prevail. We can’t overcome any other way.
For me personally, I have to remember not to just get stuck in the mundane of life. I need to constantly stop myself from allowing my relationship with Christ to hinder. Every day I realize that it’s truly me, myself and I that keeps me separated from Him. My mindset and lack of enthusiasm keeps me from truly being connected the Holy Spirit. Encouragement, don’t let yourself to be held back by the ways of the world. Christ is our enabler to overcome in this hard life. Freedom is His name.

Consistency

Consistency Romans 12:1-2 - Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. I am convinced that these verses is one of my overseer’s favorite to quote. I have heard it so much the past 6 months, that it’s pretty much now one of my favorites now as well. This section is talking about being a living sacrifice to the Lord. We are supposed to walk in holiness and in purity while we are on this earth.   Now that can be really hard, like really hard. Wisdom 5 Ephesians 5:15-17 – See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. If we walk by godly wisdom, then it will help us determine what our purpose is. But there’s a few curve balls to this. Right here in this verse, it’s basically promising us that there are going to be hard days ahead. There is nothing we can do to prevent them but to stay faithful in your calling. The verse goes on and says, “Therefore.” Now this is a very important transition word. It letting us know that the next portion has something significant to say to us. And that is, DO NOT BE UNWISE.
