Being a Student 1
Mark 4:10-11 – But when He was alone, those around Him with the twelve asked Him about the parable. And He said to them, “to you it has been given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to those who are outside, all things come in parables.
Here we see many things happening. I see that the Lord teaches, the student ask, and the Lord brings some understanding. The one of the few things that really sticks out to me in this scripture, is when it says, “those around Him.” The people and disciples were around Jesus. They were listening, attentive and ready to be poured into. It so important to just be around in ministry. I remember my overseer telling me an illustration of this. He said that it doesn’t matter how long you had worked with Him, if a new guy comes in and is around and available, unlike you, he would choose the guy to receive the benefits. Why? Because, he wants the guy who is going to work the hardest and who is looking for the work.
 The next thing I notice is that they “asked” Jesus questions. They are trying to understand and glean off of the Jesus’ wisdom. God says that all we have to do is to ask of what is in His will and it shall be granted (1 John 5:15-16). His will is to teach us and show us the path of righteousness. He longs to reveal to us who He is. He says, “To you it is given to know.” It’s a free gift to us because our God is generous. This verse is also an exhortation to us, disciples. If we don’t take the time to draw near to the Lord and ask Him for wisdom. Then we will be known as a legit, “Outsider”. That’s the last thing I want to become or be known as in the kingdom of heaven.

             Form a question and ask my leader the meaning and gain understanding from it.

Consistency

Consistency Romans 12:1-2 - Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. I am convinced that these verses is one of my overseer’s favorite to quote. I have heard it so much the past 6 months, that it’s pretty much now one of my favorites now as well. This section is talking about being a living sacrifice to the Lord. We are supposed to walk in holiness and in purity while we are on this earth.   Now that can be really hard, like really hard. Because that means we have to be consistently living a life that is set apart. This section doesn’t say “Do not conform to the pattern of this world”… SOMETIMES. No, it say, “Do not”. Wisdom 5 Ephesians 5:15-17 – See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. If we walk by godly wisdom, then it will help us determine what our purpose is. But there’s a few curve balls to this. Right here in this verse, it’s basically promising us that there are going to be hard days ahead. There is nothing we can do to prevent them but to stay faithful in your calling. The verse goes on and says, “Therefore.” Now this is a very important transition word. It letting us know that the next portion has something significant to say to us. And that is, DO NOT BE UNWISE. Plan and simple. Don’t do it. The bible tells us on many occasions to not be wise in your own worldly eyes.
