Faith Hebrews 11:1, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Through faith, I am given a promise. A promise that God will reveal himself to me if I remain faithful. When I ponder on the word “faith”, it really makes me think of believing in something that is unseen. Believing in the unseen, can be hard sometimes for me. But my God reminds me time, after time, after time that if I seek him whole heartedly, He will gladly reveal himself to me. I must “look unto Jesus, the author and finisher of my faith” to keep guiding me. It’s not even just a hope, it’s a promise to those who believe. (Hebrews 12:2a) Romans 1:20 says, “For since the creation of the world, His attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead, so that we are without excuse.” His attributes are seen through the hearts of his people. Perseverance 3 Colossians 1:11 – strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy. In this passage, Paul is breaking down how to God will strengthen us in the midst of our trials. He starts out by saying that through Christ, we are strengthened with all might. Notice the word “all” here. This to me iterates that God is a generous with us. Eph 3:12 reinforces this verse. It reiterates, “to be strengthened with might through His Spirit. And again in 6:10, “be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. So it’s safe to say that God promises to give us the strength. He continues on to say that it’s through His glorious power, that in the midst of our trail, he will fight our battles. It’s His power alone that we shall prevail. If we preserver on and rely on the Lord, it’s through Him that we receive ALL the power, ALL the strength, and ALL the patience for our longsuffering. This is encouraging passage for me. It reminds...
What is Lacking?
What is Lacking? 1 Thessalonians 1:2-7 – “We give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly mentioning you in our prayers, remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. For we know, brothers loved by God, that he has chosen you, because our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction. You know what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake. And you became imitators of us and of the Lord, for you received the word in much affliction, with the joy of the Holy Spirit, so that you became an example to all the believers…” I just started the book of Thessalonians the other day and they think the author of this book is Paul because of the writing style and theology. If this is Paul, then, I love the way he is so sincere with his brothers in Christ. The way he starts every letter to his friends, he greats them with much ...
